Duchess of York reveals she is suspending Fergie and Friends children’s book series

The Duchess of York has announced that she is taking a hiatus from her YouTube series Storytime with Fergie and Friends.

Sarah Ferguson, 62, commonly known as Fergie, has revealed that she will temporarily stop posting daily videos to her YouTube channel – which she started on lockdown.

The mother-of-two launched the channel in April 2020 to keep the kids entertained at home.

In one Instagram Story shared yesterday, Fergie reassured her fans that this hiatus is only temporary, and that they will be updated soon when the show resumes.

“Story time with Fergie and her friends is going to take another break. We’ll keep you posted on a return date soon, ”reads a post shared on Instagram from Princess Beatrice’s mother and Princess Eugenie.

The grandmother of two shared her latest New Years Eve video where she read Matt Cosgrove’s Macca’s Christmas Crackers. It has been viewed almost 140,000 times.

Other videos have seen her dress up as Little Red Riding Hood and don flower crowns and unicorn hats as part of her animated readings.

It comes after Fergie was spotted in the ski resort of Verbier in Switzerland.

She was joined by Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank as well as Princess Beatrice, her husband Edo Mapelli Mozzi and her son Wolfie.

Families celebrated New Years together at the Duke of York’s £ 17million luxury chalet – which was said to have gone on sale earlier this year – which overlooks the exclusive resort.

Fergie’s Daily Videos, where she often read children’s books from authors she loves – and sometimes her own titles, were watched by thousands during the height of the lockdown.

In the first episode of “Storytime with Fergie and Friends,” which she posted on her YouTube channel, Sarah put on a very lively performance while reading the children’s classic Hairy Maclary by Lynley Dodd.

Since that first clip was shared, the mother-of-two has updated the channel, often daily, with new videos where she can be seen reading children’s stories.

In total, Fergie shared 543 videos on the channel, garnering more than 42,500 subscribers.

His last video was watched by 139,481 fans, but they will have to wait to watch another of his videos.

The news comes as Fergie’s ex-husband Prince Andrew, 61, is currently awaiting a decision on whether a lawsuit relating to allegations that he sexually assaulted Virginia Giuffre, then 17 years old, three times in 2001 will be relieved of his functions by a judge of New York.

Ms Giuffre, now 38, claims she was trafficked by billionaire sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell to have sex with the prince – at Maxwell’s London home at Epstein’s mansion in New York and on his private island in the Caribbean.

Prince Andrew vehemently denies the allegations, but his legal team is currently fighting to have the case dismissed on the basis of “technicality” on the grounds that she waived her right to sue him when signed a previous legal settlement of £ 370,000 ($ 500,000) with Epstein.

They also accused Ms Giuffre of being after “another salary at her expense”.

A decision on whether the case will go to trial could be made this week following a hearing last Tuesday.

The allegations, however, have mired the Duke for the past two years and led to a car crash interview with Emily Maitlis on Newsnight in which he claimed he was “unable to sweat”.

It was reported by the Sunday opening hours this his expensive list of advisers is around £ 2million.

The list includes a lawyer nicknamed “Good News Gary” and a lawyer who represented crime boss Terry Adams and Britain’s most violent prisoner, Charles Bronson.

The Duke’s ex-wife Sarah was also allegedly involved in a briefing against Ms Giuffre.

A source said the situation “is a mess” and Andrew is “receiving terrible advice” despite not being helped by his family who “gave him up”.

The allegations first came to light in 2011, but the prince provided no public explanation until the November 2019 interview on Newsnight.

Sources say he accepted the interview over a concern to repair his reputation ahead of his 60th birthday and the wedding of his daughter, Princess Beatrice.

It is understood that he wanted to “come to the fore” and finally get his side of the story known to the public.

Andrew initially declined to appear on Newsnight for an interview on the basis that his public relations adviser Jason Stein, former special adviser to Amber Rudd, thought it was a bad idea.

However, he was later convinced by his private secretary Amanda Thirsk.
